Greg Oxley Aug 24, 2007 RFC Defender Gregory Macnamara has made his commitment to play for the outstanding NCAA Division I soccer program at Davidson College in Davidson, North Carolina. Macnamara’s commitment brings the total to ten (10) RFC 89 players who have committed to major programs. RFC 89 Coach Jefferson Kinney who is also the First Assistant at American University was quoted as saying: “Davidson College is not only getting a wonderful player, but a wonderful person as well. Greg’s determination and dedication to his work both on the field and in the classroom has paid off tremendously. Here at RFC, we couldn’t be happier with Greg’s growth as a player and he is just another example of how good things come to those who work honestly and hard at what they do.” The Davidson Wildcats for whom Macnamara will be playing commencing in the fall of 2008 are led by Head Coach Matt Spear (Davidson ’93) and Assistant Coach Clint Peay (Virginia ’95). Spear has posted a winning record in five of his six seasons at the helm of the Wildcat program. Under his direction, Davidson has made three appearances in the Southern Conference championship game. Last season, Davidson played such NCAA Division I powerhouses as Duke University, Wake Forest, UNC, UVA, University of South Carolina and James Madison University. Davidson is ranked 10th nationally among Liberal Arts Colleges by U.S. News and World Report. It is the highest ranked liberal arts school in the southeast. Davidson has graduated 23 Rhodes Scholars. Davidson’s 1,700 students come from virtually every state in the U.S. and 33 foreign counties. He is playing varsity soccer there for his second year. Gonzaga is the returning Washington Catholic Athletic Conference Champion About his scholarship and commitment to Davidson, Gregory had the following to say: “I am very excited to have the opportunity to play soccer for Davidson under Coaches Spear and Peay.
