RFC Arsenal Announce Tryouts

Jun 5, 2008

RFC Arsenal, a rising U16 college track girls travel team, is looking for strong, dedicated players for the 2008-09 year. The team competes in Division 1 of the Washington Area Girls Soccer League (WAGS) in addition to attending premier tournaments throughout the United States.

RFC provides a year round training program for players who wish to compete at the highest level and boasts one of the most successful college track programs in the area. It is recognized throughout the United States as one of the country's premier youth clubs.

RFC Arsenal is coached by Georgetown University Assistant Coach Michael Calabretta and American University Assistant Coach Steve Totten, two of the area's prominent young coaches.

Calabretta, who holds licenses from both the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) and National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), has been involved at the club level since 2000. In 2003, he helped start the girls program at RFC, which rapidly emerged as one of the best in the nation. By 2005, RFC was ranked as the #1 club in Virginia and #4 in Region I.

A member of the Region I Girls Olympic Development Program (ODP) staff, Calabretta has also been involved with the Maryland Olympic Development Program on the boys side serving as a staff coach from 1999-2000. At both the ODP and club levels, he has helped to develop players for the U.S. Youth National and Regional teams. The coach of the highly decorated RFC Rovers and RFC United, his teams have enjoyed outstanding records of success and have been consistently ranked among the best in the country.

On the college landscape, Calabretta has had an excellent success rate placing players in conference programs that include the A-10, ACC, Big East, Big South, Big Ten, Big 12, CAA, C-USA, Ivy League, MAAC, MAC, Patriot League, SEC, and Southern Conference.
